Two legends gone in one week
It’s hard to believe the losses of the past week. I’ve performed many of the songs of Glenn Frey and David Bowie over the years and it’s sad to think there will be no more new songs from them. Glenn Frey and David Bowie were rock and roll legends, the embodiments of 70’s rock stars, with all the notoriety (good and bad) that that entailed. Their music, although very different stylistically, were two sides of a coin, coming out in an age where mainstream music wasn’t defined by genre or created in a boardroom by committee. They made music that spoke to people, with words that inspired and melodies that haunted. In honour of these two giants I quickly sat down and recorded live two of their biggest hits:

I hope I did some justice to these great songs. I’m hoping that I won’t have to record any more others’ songs this year(for this reason at least!) , but I know that time marches on and it’s true a lot of our heroes are getting to that age. I’d like to thank Glenn Frey and David Bowie for their music…..the world is a better place for it and for them. Here’s to a happier 2016 ahead….
